North students petting Harley, the therapy dog, during a visit

Every Thursday, Mt. Healthy North Elementary students receive special visitors to their classrooms, of the canine kind. These furry-four paw friends are therapy dogs from a volunteer organization, Canine for Christ of Cincinnati. Each visit at North entails the dogs traveling to designated classrooms to visit students and teachers. The pups visit the school weekly to provide the students and staff with specialized love that only a dog can give. The purpose behind these visits is to provide students a non judgmental companion and a moment of excitement & happiness. These dogs are trained to absorb people's feelings and needs. They are solely visiting to provide love and comfort.  Students have had to endure many stressful situations following the spring 2020 pandemic. This program of bringing therapy dogs to Mt. Healthy North is a step in providing students time to relax and time to heal. Since the dogs have been visiting, the students have thoroughly enjoyed the time in their classes. Many ask when the dogs will be dropping by again.
