students showing off their homemade tornadoes

Mt. Healthy North Elementary is incorporating cool Science and STEM learning with fun hands-on learning for second graders. They learned about wind movement in both speed and direction in addition to the cooling of air and transfer of energy. These instances produce tornadoes, so students created their own mini columns of air and water in jars.

The second graders also used their new knowledge to create clouds in a jar and anemometers to demonstrate some of these concepts.  Lots of STEM going on in second grade Science!
